dc.description.abstractEsta dissertação tem como objetivo examinar as possibilidades da obra de Agostinho, especialmente De Magistro, para a reflexão acerca da formação docente. Examinando os problemas e os diagnósticos da educação no Brasil da atualidade, acreditamos que, para a solução, pelo menos em parte, da formação docente, duas são as atitudes a serem tomadas. A primeira, a formação continuada; a segunda, que faz parte, em certos aspectos, da primeira, é a leitura dos clássicos. Daí nos valermos da obra De Magistro como um texto que pode estimular a reflexão acerca da função docente. Para o exame da obra de Agostinho, estudaremos o contexto da incisiva atuação do cristianismo na reconstrução e no desenvolvimento da Europa Ocidental após a derrocada do Império Romano, a partir do retomada de momentos distintos, mas complementares e extremamente relevantes não só para a época, como também para os dias atuais, procurando, assim, constituir uma base para refletirmos sobre a formação que temos provido na atualidade, bem como a inexpressividade de indivíduos e instituições formadoras sobre a nossa sociedade. Também pretendemos evidenciar aspectos pedagógicos de Agostinho e como ocorria o processo ensino-aprendizagem entre ele e seu filho. O mestre da igreja conclamava o educador a ter amor à sua profissão, lecionar com dedicação e compromisso. Posto isso, cabe ressaltar que elegemos o autor em destaque, porque a educação agostiniana incentivava a formação integral e estimulava o domínio do conhecimento como uma condição da boa aprendizagem, por meio de atitudes que demandavam compromisso e autonomia. Destacamos a obra De Magistro, tendo em vista o homem e sociedade cristã agostiniana. Em seguida, a partir desse entendimento, buscaremos identificar a expressividade da formação docente que auxilie uma prática com o compromisso e responsabilidade com o processo educativo. Para tanto, os escritos de Agostinho (1973), Gilson (2010), Novaes Filho (2009), Le Goff (2005), Duby (1982), Guizot (1999), Nunes (1978), Gatti e Barreto (2009), entre outros, nos auxiliarão a conhecer os benefícios da leitura dos clássicos na constituição de um professor pesquisador e a entender a contribuição da obra agostiniana, De Magistro, para a formação docente. Assim sendo, acreditamos que a abrangência do presente estudo é bastante salutar, tanto para nosso aprimoramento pessoal, quanto para a reflexão de questões sociais e educativas do momento vigente.
dc.description.resumoThis master’s thesis aims to examine the possibilities of the work of St. Augustine, especially De Magistro, for reflection about the teacher training. Through the analysis of problems and diagnoses of the current Brazilian education, the solution, at least in part, of teacher training, relies on two attitudes. The first, continuing education; the second, which is part, in some aspects of the first, is the reading of the classics. Hence, this study analyzed the book De Magistro as a text that can stimulate reflection on the teaching function. For the examination of St. Augustine's work, we investigated the context of the incisive role of Christianity in the reconstruction and development of Western Europe after the collapse of the Roman Empire, from the rescue of separate but complementary and highly relevant periods, not only for the time but also to the present day, thus seeking to provide a basis to reflect on the training given today, and the meaninglessness of individuals and educational institutions on our society. We also intend to highlight pedagogical aspects of St. Augustine and the teaching-learning process between him and his son. The teacher of the church requested the educator to have love for profession, teach with dedication and commitment. That said, it is noteworthy that we chose St. Augustine because the Augustinian education encouraged the integral formation and attitudes that required commitment and autonomy. We highlight the work De Magistro, in view of the man and Augustinian Christian society. Subsequently, from that understanding, we sought to identify the expressiveness of teacher training to assist a practice associated with commitment and responsibility to the educational process. Therefore, the writings of Agostinho (1973), Gilson (2010), Novaes Filho (2009), Le Goff (2005), Duby (1982), Guizot (1999), Nunes (1978), Gatti and Barreto (2009), among others, assisted us to know the benefits of reading the classics in the constitution of a research professor and to understand the contribution of the Augustine's work, De Magistro, for teacher training. Therefore, the scope of this study is very beneficial both for personal improvement, and for the reflection of social and educational issues of the current time.
