dc.description.abstractA presente dissertação objetiva analisar o romance “Um Lugar ao Sol” de Erico Verissimo, obra na qual o escritor apresenta a personagem Clarissa já moça e de volta à cidade de Porto Alegre depois do assassinato do pai, ela já formada como professora, autossuficiente e mantenedora do seu lar, assim como Fernanda, que além de vizinha também é amiga de Clarissa e sua família. Nesse romance, Verissimo expõe essas duas mulheres de maneira diferente das figuras femininas daquela época, que viviam sob a égide dos valores machistas e conservadores, pois as mesmas não podiam expressar suas vontades e tampouco reivindicar direitos. Ao reapresentar Clarissa, já seguindo sua profissão, lutando por sua subsistência e da família, da mesma maneira que Fernanda o faz, Erico Verissimo apresenta essas duas mulheres como questionadoras de seu tempo, que enfrentam as adversidades da vida, da condição social em que vivem, observando as transformações sociais, políticas e econômicas que perpassam o romance. Levando em consideração a obra aqui analisada e que tanto ela quanto outras obras que compõem os primeiros romances de Verissimo, iniciadas com o romance “Clarissa” (1933) e culminam com “Saga” (1940), são obras ainda pouco estudadas, ou se estudam as mulheres em blocos comprando-as ou se estudam as mulheres do romance “O Tempo e o Vento”, além disso, até o momento não foram encontras pesquisas interdisciplinares que envolvam a obra de Verissimo, a Literatura, a Geografia, História e Sociologia e Estudos de Gênero. Diante dessas perspectivas, esta pesquisa visa analisar a mulher criada por Verissimo bem como estabelecer relações com as experiências e vivências das mulheres reais que nasceram na segunda metade do século XX e chegam aos primeiros 20 anos do século XXI. A pesquisa é interdisciplinar e como tal ela se faz presente por meio da Geografia por meio dos conceitos de lugar, associados a ela se encontram os estudos do lugar também para a Literatura bem como a concepção do que é ficção e realidade, e, relacionado aos estudos já citados temos a História por meio dos estudos sobre origem e desenvolvimento da cidade de Porto Alegre e também sobre os movimentos feministas e a Sociologia que nos auxilia na compreensão dos estudos sobre a sociedade. Pautados nos princípios apresentados, levantamos os seguintes questionamentos: a) Como a mulher é representada no romance “Um Lugar ao Sol”? b) qual o lugar da mulher na ficção? d) qual o papel que a desempenhado pela mulher na sociedade? e) quais as transformações enfrentadas pelas mulheres nas últimas décadas do século XX e as que as mulheres ainda enfrentam nos primeiros 20 anos do século XXI? O aporte metodológico da investigação constitui-se de pesquisa bibliográfica, documental e entrevistas semiestruturadas que foram gravadas e transcritas. Os resultados obtidos indicam os avanços e também o que ainda permanece igual na vida das mulheres na sociedade brasileira por meio de suas experiências e vivências. A pesquisa segue a abordagem interdisciplinar entre as áreas de Literatura e Geografia, História e Sociologia
dc.description.resumoThis dissertation aims to analyze the novel "Um Lugar ao Sol" by Erico Verissimo, in which the author introduces the character Clarissa as a young girl who, after the murder of her father, returns to the city of Porto Alegre to train as a teacher, self-supporter and housekeeper, as well as Fernanda, who is not only a neighbor but also a friend of Clarissa and her family. In this novel, Verissimo portrays these two women differently from the female characters of the time, who lived under the aegis of sexist and conservative values, as they could not express their desires or claim rights. By reintroducing Clarissa, who is now pursuing her profession and fighting for her livelihood and family, in the same way as Fernanda, Erico Verissimo presents these two women as questioners of their time, facing the adversities of life, of the social conditions in which they live, by observing the social, political and economic changes that permeate the novel. Considering the work analyzed here, and the fact that both this and the other works that make up Verissimo's first novels, beginning with the novel "Clarissa" (1933) and culminating in "Saga" (1940), are still little studied, or, when studying women in blocks, buying them or studying the women in the novel "O Tempo e o Vento", therefore, no interdisciplinary research has been found to date that includes the work of Verissimo, literature, geography, history and sociology and gender studies. Given these perspectives, this research aims to analyze the woman created by Verissimo and to establish relationships with the experiences of real women born in the second half of the 20th century and who lived the first 20 years of the 21st century. The research is interdisciplinary and as such it is present through geography through the concepts of place, related to this are the studies of place also for literature as well as the conception of what is fiction and reality, and in relation to studies already mentioned have history through studies on the emergence and development of the city of Porto Alegre and also on feminist movements and sociology, which helps us understand studies on society. Based on the principles presented, we ask ourselves the following questions: a) what is the representation of women in the novel "Um Lugar ao Sol?", b) what place did the fictional women have within the city? c) what is the role of women in society? d) what changes were women confronted with during the last decades of the 20th century? and the first decades of the 21st century? e) what changes have the women faced in the last decades of the 20th century and the first 20 years of the 21st century? The methodological contribution of the research consisted of bibliographic, documentary and semi-structured interviews, which were recorded and transcribed. The results obtained show the progress and what has remained the same in the lives of women in Brazilian society, through their experiences and experiences. The research follows an interdisciplinary approach between the fields of literature and geography, history and sociology.
