dc.description.abstractO cinema, pela via do discurso, cria representações, estabelece identificações e sustenta um imaginário sobre diversas coisas, sendo o homem negro uma delas. A partir do filme “Moonlight: Sob a luz do Luar”, de Barry Jenkins (2016), esta pesquisa visa analisar filmes que propõem uma reflexão sobre a construção desse imaginário e que de certa forma, defende-se, buscam em sua proposta desconstruí-lo. “O matador de Ovelhas” de Charles Burnet (1978) e “Os donos da rua” de John Singleton (1991) foram elencados para em análise juntamente com o filme de Jenkins comporem essa argumentação, interseccionada com os estudos de gênero, mais especificamente com as pesquisas sobre masculinidade(s), que exploram os conceitos de masculinidade hegemônica e subalterna, onde o homem negro, por não dispor dos mesmos privilégios do homem branco, pertenceria ao segundo grupo; entendendo que as questões identitárias e de representação do homem negro são intrínsecas à questão de gênero e considerando a hipótese de uma atual crise da masculinidade, onde a partir das mudanças ocorridas durante o século XX, principalmente no tocante aos movimentos feministas e LGBTQI+, o homem passa a perder sua identidade viril estabelecida e se encontraria num entremeio para a descoberta de novas possibilidades do exercício da mesma.
dc.description.resumoThe cinema, through its discourse, creates representations, establishes identifications and sustains an imaginary about several things. The black man is one of them. Based on the film “Moonlight”, by Barry Jenkins (2016), this research aims to analyze films that propose a reflection on the construction of this imaginary and that, in a way, defends itself, seeks in its deconstructed proposal it. Charles Burnet's “The Killer of Sheep” (1978) and John Singleton's “Boyz n the Hood (1991) were listed for analysis together with Jenkins' film to compose this argument, intersected with gender studies, more specifically with the research on masculinity (s), which explore the concepts of hegemonic and subordinate masculinity, where the black man, for not having the same privileges as the white man, would belong to the second group; understanding that the questions of identity and representation of the black man are intrinsic to the question of gender and considering the hypothesis of a current crisis of masculinity, where from the changes that occurred during the 20th century, mainly with regard to feminist and LGBTQI + movements, man he begins to lose his established virile identity and would find himself in the midst of discovering new possibilities for exercising it.
